Why are hotel room signs always outdated?

Every time the breakfast schedule, room service price, WiFi password or housekeeping extension number changes, you need to reprint signs for dozens or hundreds of rooms. Most hotels simply do not do it: the cards age and the information becomes incorrect.
A guest arriving at 11 pm who wants to order something to the room has to call reception to ask about night service hours and what is available. A QR with all that information available instantly removes that friction and improves the experience at no extra cost.
