QR Code for Google Maps: your address straight to the customer's phone
The customer scans and Google Maps opens with your location pinned — no address to copy
A Google Maps QR code encodes the URL of your Google My Business listing or the coordinates of your location. When scanned, Google Maps opens with your location marked and the Get Directions button active.
How do you create a Google Maps QR code?
Find your location in Google Maps, tap Share, copy the short link and generate the QR at codigo-qr.es choosing the URL type. Takes under 2 minutes.
Step-by-step:
1. Open Google Maps in a browser and search for your location 2. Click the Share button (arrow icon) in the location panel 3. Copy the link from the 'Send a link' tab 4. Go to the QR generator, select URL type and paste the link 5. Download as PNG or SVG
The Google Maps short link (maps.app.goo.gl/...) is shorter than the full URL and generates a QR with fewer modules, which improves readability at small sizes.
A static Google Maps QR code is completely free and requires no account.
Which URL is better: a Google Maps link or GPS coordinates?
The Google My Business link opens the full listing with photos, opening hours and reviews. GPS coordinates only show a pin with no business information.
Comparing options:
Google My Business link (recommended): opens your full listing with name, photos, opening hours, reviews and the call button. The customer sees all your business information.
Coordinates link (maps.google.com/?q=lat,lon): opens a pin on the map without a business listing. Useful for locations not in Google My Business (construction sites, temporary venues, events).
Long Google Maps URL: works but generates a very dense QR code. Use the short link from Share for a cleaner QR.
If you have a verified Google My Business listing, the listing link is always the best option.
Where should you place the Google Maps QR code?
In the shop window, on the business card, in the email footer and on the website. A QR in the shop window also works when the premises are closed.
Best placements by business type:
Shop window or door: the QR works around the clock. The potential customer who passes at 11pm when you are closed can save the address to come back later.
Business card: on the back, next to the vCard contact QR or digital business card. The contact can add your address to their navigation app directly.
Flyers and leaflets: at the foot of the flyer, with the text 'Get Directions' above the QR.
Email signature: the QR as a small image in your signature. The recipient who wants to visit you can scan it from the computer screen with their phone.
Static or dynamic QR code for a business address?
Static if the location never changes. Dynamic if you want to update the address or switch to a different destination without reprinting cards and signage.
For most established businesses, a static Google Maps QR is sufficient and free — the location does not change.
Choose a dynamic QR if:
• You have a mobile business (food truck, market stall) that changes location
• You want to use the same QR for Maps in summer and for a promotions landing in winter
• You have placed the QR on permanent material (signage, packaging) and may relocate
With a dynamic QR, you update the destination from the dashboard in seconds. The physical code does not change.

Preguntas frecuentes
- Does the Google Maps QR code work without the app installed?
- Yes. If the device does not have the Google Maps app, the link opens in the browser in the Maps web version. The experience is slightly slower but displays the location correctly.
- Does the QR take you directly to GPS navigation mode?
- Not directly. It takes you to the business listing. From there, the user taps 'Get Directions' and chooses the transport mode. It is not possible to activate GPS navigation automatically from a QR code.
- Can the same QR code lead to both Google Maps and reviews?
- Not with a single QR code. You need two separate QR codes: one with the location link and one with the direct reviews link. Alternatively, use a bio link that groups both destinations on one page.
- Does the Google Maps QR code work with Apple Maps on iPhone?
- The Google Maps link opens Google Maps on iOS if it is installed, or the browser with the Maps web version. It does not redirect to Apple Maps. If you want Apple Maps compatibility, use a dynamic QR pointing to a landing page with both links.
